The 30th edition of London International Wine Fair took place at ExCeL from 18th to 20th May. The 2009 AEO “Best Trade Show” winner didn’t rest on its laurels and once again put on a great show, drawing over 13,700 visitors from all over the world.
Wine royalty from Italy, France, and the USA exhibited along young lions and boutique makers from New Zealand and Croatia; generous tastings, smart stands, knowledgeable staff, and of course thousands of exquisite wines all contributed to the lively atmosphere and ensured visitors remained in high spirits.
The World Cup host South Africa had one of the most attractive set-ups, thanks in part to the impressive 16-screen LCD wall supplied by Aztec; a real eye-catcher which drew many to the stand.
Aztec also provided screens and PA systems for the Masterclass, Industry Briefings, Wine Intelligence, Top 100 Tastings, and Distil Tastings theatres, which served as meeting places for wine connoisseurs.
Social media has played a pivotal role in the recent wine industry developments, and the organizers recognized its importance by providing a free wi-fi "blogging zone" and organizing seminars on how to use social media in wine promotion. An Event Guide smartphone application was also available for free download on the show's website.
